Our weekend away at Eagle Rock Lodge

There is no reason to look any further...Eagle Rock Lodge is the place for us. After our second trip there, we have decided to make Eagle Rock Lodge "our retreat". How could you not? It is a fabulous getaway on the McKenzie River, and the Innkeepers (and our friends), Randy and Debbie Dersham (see picture that is not of us!) are just the most wonderful people to spend time with.

Jeff tried his hand at fly fishing and after about an hour, caught his first fish (with a fly rod). Randy was amazed because it was technically too early and too cold for the fish to be biting. Jeff was amazed that his skills were worthy of a fish. I was amazed that the Lord would give Jeff a fish, rewarding him for his efforts to try something new. Now Jeff plans on honing in on his fly fishing skills and becoming an avid fly fisherman. (By the way, Dad, Jeff would like you to tie him some Northwestern flies)

Also in the pictures, is one of me at 6 months. When I saw the picture, I was horrified! Am I really that huge? Good grief! I look like a sumo wrestler! But when I think of that little girl inside, I think, "It's all worth it. I'll eat 6 chocolate brownies just for you baby girl!!!" Just kidding. Friends keep reminding me that soon enough I will get my body back. I say, I'll believe it when I see it.

And of course, I couldn't NOT get a back to back shot of Jeff and I, and our two bellies. I didn't realize though, that I am bigger than he is. I make him look like a Ken Doll, compared to my belly.

Okay, okay, back to our weekend. We didn't have any plans going there. In fact, I spent much of Saturday afternoon simply sitting on the couch in the common area, solving Sudoku puzzles. And when it was time to leave, both of us decided that we were going to go back soon. So our plan is to make it back at the end of April for the Wood Boat Festival, being held at our favorite place in the woods...Eagle Rock Lodge. Hope to see you there sometime!
