Welcome to my 8:00am world. This was the state of my child this morning. Nice. At least she calmed down when I gave her some grapes.

Finally...the RACE!

Well, I don't have all the pictures I wanted for this post, but here goes anyway. On August 1-2, I joined 11 others, piling in 2 Suburbans for a 36+ hour 217 mile relay race through the central Oregon Cascade mountain range. It was grueling...hot, high elevations, sick tummies, but it was a lot of fun. I met quite a few new people in my Burb, mostly our team captain's family.
I ran a total of 3 legs, 6.4miles, 5.3 miles (at 3:30 in the morning!), and 5.4 miles. I ended up with two fatty blisters on my feet, gained about 2 pounds from eating chocolate chip cookies and granola bars, and a lot of great memories.
Now, I am onto a Triathalon scheduled for September 6th in Madras. After that, it's break time for a while.

Our little "sickie" in her new high chair
This past weekend, Bailey acquired a ffever. On Friday night, she got up to 103.5, so we took her to the ER. They gave her some meds and did some tests, and then I determined that I was giving her too little Tylenol for her age and size. Well, at least I wasn't over-drugging my kid, right?!? Anyway, she ran a high temp all weekend and was quite sad, lethargic, and clingy the entire time. For the most part, she needed to be held by either me or Jeff all weekend long, which left us exhausted. Fortunately, Jeff and I had eachother and were able to tag team our way through the weekend.
One cool thing for the weekend though was that I got this nifty little seat at a garage sale for $7.00. It's brand new and pretty cool for traveling and going out to eat. Very compact. In this picture, Bailey looks so tall! She's not a baby anymore, I keep reminding myself. She's 14 months old!

Dad is great! He gives us chocolate cake!
For Jeff's birthday, we had Boston Cream Pie. Now, why is BCP called "pie" when it's really cake? I just don't understand this at all. Anyway, we had BCP, and it was really good (back to Weight Watchers today though!), and of course, Bailey had a ball with it. She was making up for the fact that we didn't give her chocolate cake for her birthday, I think.
Blueberries!
What we hope will become a yearly family tradition turned into a HUGE black mess in Bailey's diaper this morning. On Sunday, after leaving the cabin, we went blueberry picking at this great u-pick farm on HWY 26 near Sandy, Oregon. A buck a pound for great, ripe blueberries! We picked 12 pounds (just had to fill those buckets, by golly!), and Bailey consumed about 1/2 pound herself. No joke. As you can see from the pictures and video, she LURVES blueberries.
Weekend at the cabin
"My mom and dad took me to a cabin this weekend, and all they got were these two pictures!"
Friends, Scott and Megan, gave us a weekend at their parents' cabin for our anniversary present. We weren't able to use it until this past weekend, so we went for Jeff's birthday. Unfortunately, Jeff was pretty sick, so we didn't do a whole lot, but getting away was nice anyway. You can tell that Jeff's not feeling well in the 1st picture. He was grilling our dinner, while hanging with Bailey, and he just looks tired and icky. In the end, he couldn't eat a bit of dinner because his tummy was so rotten. Alas! A trip to DQ turned his belly around for the good and he was able to eat dinner around 8pm. Yay for soft serve ice cream!

Max's water dish
Just like the bucket of mud is Max's water dish for Bailey. She loves to play with it. Normally, she just plays in the water, but this time, she decided to play IN it. She kept crawling in and out....and then drank some of it too. ugh. But, with the heat in the low 100's this past week, any cold water will do, right?

Love those eyes...
I can't get over her eyes, and neither can most people. They are an interesting shade of hazel, almost too difficult to determine the actual color.
Mystery Dress
As I was searching for size 4 shoes in Bailey's 18 month clothing bin, I found this amazing denim dress with little embroidered flowers on it. Who got this for her? I absolutely love it but can't remember who got it for her. Will the real purchaser please stand up? I hope I sent you a thank you card when you got it for Bailey, but again, I wanted to say, "Thank you!" for this great little jumper!

"Baby!"
Bailey started saying "Baby" yesterday. so I thought I would get it on camera for you. Mind you, she does not say it on cue, but that's okay. After recording it, I wondered if she was actually saying "Puppy" instead, as one of the books we read has a puppy in it. We definitely say "Puppy" more than we say "Baby", so now I am wondering. Either way, she is talking!!!
I'll take a Hermiston please!
If you are from Oregon, you know that Hermiston watermelons are the best. If you aren't and come to visit, make sure it's during watermelon season, and you try one for yourself. They are simply amazing. Grandma Karen brought one last weekend when she came to visit, and Bailey thought it was fun to play with. I, on the other hand, thought it was fun to eat. That whole watermelon (minus a few pieces for Jeff, Grandma, and Bailey) was in my belly in a matter of days!
Reading with Grandma
While I did my race last weekend (more on that to come...), Grandma Karen came to help Jeff take care of Bailey. The race was about 36 hours long, so she stayed the entire weekend. Grandma bought this book for Bailey during her last visit, and Bailey absolutely loves it. Grandma reads it to her and makes all sorts of funny animal sounds. Grandma actually taught Bailey to pant like a puppy!
