After eagerly awaiting their arrival, the bee boots finally arrived. Last February, I got her rain jacket at a garage sale (actually MY garage sale that my friend was also selling at) for around $2.00. Once the mud puddles hit this winter, I decided to try to find the matching boots. Found them used on ebay for $6.50! So, here's the Bug putting on her Bees and getting ready for some mud puddle fun outside.
This is mud puddle splashing on another day, when the puddles were aplenty, but it was sunshiney out side. I couldn't justify the jacket, but could certainly justify the boots. So, now Bailey is "matchy matchy green squared". Sorry, inside joke from my favorite movie ever.
Can you guess which movie, by the way?

What to do on a rainy day?
Today, on our second attempt to take a walk, we moseyed down to the mailboxes to pick up our mail. It was starting to rain a bit, but Bailey and I were going stir crazy in the house all day. This 1/4 mile jaunt took us nearly an hour because Bailey had her first experience jumping in mud puddles!
On the way back up the hill, the only way I could keep her on track was to tell her to "follow the river" back to our house. Other wise, she started running back down the road to jump in the little mud puddles.
And what better way to finish up the little excursion than with a hot chocolate and homemade chocolate chip cookie.
As a child, any time we kids went out to play in the winter, mom always had hot chocolate for us when we were done. Mom would heat the milk on the stove and mix up the hot chocolate for us. And while our hand knitted mittens were drying by the heater, we were happily sipping our hot chocolate. I still heat the milk on the stove instead of the microwave, and Bailey and I still sport the same hand knitted mittens by my mom. Some things never change, eh?

The Impossible...Made Possible
I got pony tails with ribbons in her hair!
I had to promise that I would put pony tails in my hair too, which I did, but she kepts these little bad boys in for nearly 4 hours! I was in complete shock the entire time. Now, if only I could keep them in the entire day.

I forgot to post about Christmas!
How could I forget to post about Christmas??? Must have had something to do with the fact that we were having some computer problems. But now that that is far behind us, I thought I would post some cutie pie picture of Bailey in her Christmas wear:
In her Christmas dress from Grandma Sally. My mom bought this dress at a second hand store that she used to buy me clothes at as a child! Pretty darn cute, eh?
This next one is my attempt to get a shot of all the cutie pie kiddos at our church. We had a Christmas Eve Eve servive. Yes, "eve, eve" as it was 2 days before Christmas (we always have a Wednesday night service). I thought it would be every parent's idea to dress their kiddo up in their Christmas outfit, so I did. Found out that just Bailey and the pastor's 3 month old daughter were wearing their Christmas dresses. Everyone else just went casual, which I guess makes sense. Our church is pretty darn casual. Our pastor wears western shirts and bears a faux-hawk for goodness sake! Love you Rory!
And then, here's one of Bailey at Grandma Karen's house. Bailey's got her sparkly red comfies on and she is playing with the new kitchen that Grandma Karen got for her. She loves it, and I love this picture because she actually smiled for the camera.
Our family hopes that you had a wonderful Christmas, and if you usually get a Christmas card from us and didn't, just wait...our New Year's cards on on their way!

Yesterday's playdate
Being at home with my kid has been so much fun. Instead of managing a database or uploading pictures of students for parents to see at work, I am at home, or in this case, at a friend's house, watching my kiddo play around with a little buddy, and taking pictures of her for you all to see. So here's Bailey, playing with Sawyer's really cool tunnel. I tried to get a sweet picture of both of them with their heads popping out the end of the tunnel, but have you ever tried wrangling a few toddlers into a picture perfect moment? Nearly impossible! We finally got one shot of the two of them, but neither were looking at the camera. Oh well.
I love being at home with Bailey, baking sourdough english muffins in our matching aprons together, taking a nice, long carrot to the barn to feed the horses (and get in a short walk for me, of course). These are just a few of my favorite things. I also LURVE naptime...in fact, I am confident that I have taken a nap at least every other day when Bailey was napping. And the best part of it all: I usually get to nap with my wonderful husband too! So, as the rest of the world is working (and I was one of them, who, in fact, technically still needs to be looking for a job), my little family is snoozing from 1:30-3:30 each afternoon. Pure bliss...unless the cell phone rings incessantly, which for some reason, it has been lately. I just need to learn to shut off the ringer, i suppose.

Serious Cantaloupe Lover
Is it quite possible for one VERY two year old girl to eat all of this cantaloupe for lunch? When summer rolls around, we eat cantaloupe nonstop at the Jones home. But in the winter, it is a rare find. So when I found some at the local Grocery Outlet last week, I got a few for the fam. I made the mistake of cutting one open for lunch when Jeff was still at work (Jeff LOVES cantaloupe too!), and thought I could give Bailey a few slices and then leave some for Jeff. Ah, no. Bailey ate the whole thing! Now, it was a small cantaloupe, I will give her that, but seriously? The entire thing?
Now you may say, "Well, mama, you didn't HAVE to give her the entire cantaloupe."
And I would simply reply, "But this just made SUCH a better picture!"
