The Great Easter Egg Hunt

Okay, well, maybe not great, but great for moms who are freaked out about their kid getting trampled by 10 year olds our in a park somewhere, while they try to hunt for Easter eggs. Our local supermarket, Ray's Food Place, hosted its 7th annual Easter egg hunt on Saturday morning. The eggs were scattered all over the aisles of the store, with designated aisles for different ages. Knowing that my kiddo was going to be just as confused as all the other "Under 2" kids made me feel a lot better. So, with great anticipation, the egg hunt began, and all the moms of the kids started running. What? Wasn't this for the kids? I distinctly remember this Hispanic woman cheering on her son, but also saying "Andelay! Andelay!" That means, "fast", right? FAST? I am thinking in my head, "Does this 1 1/2 year old really NEED all the chocolate that is in these eggs? Are we in a competition?" After 40 seconds, the hunt was over, and this little cutie pie Hispanic boy had about 35 eggs in his basket. Bailey had about 10. I think the mom felt bad, as she took some of hers and put it in Bailey's bag.

In the end, the Egg Hunt was fun...and Bailey enjoyed a few of her chocolate finds. We took the eggs home and then rehid them for her for Easter morning. The 2nd time through, she began to realize that it was a game and that she was supposed to be looking for all these pretty eggs. I love the innocence of childhood. Wish we could all go back there.
